Welcome to VisitStraiton. This site will tell you something about Straiton in
South Ayrshire, one of the most beautiful villages in Southern Scotland.

The view from Bennan Hill

There are great walks – from peaceful waymarked trails beside the river to energetic blasts straight up the hill, to wild walking in the remote glens of the Galloway forest.

There are long beautiful cycle rides to be had up the valleys and deep into the forest roads of the Galloway Hills, where the road cycling can give way to the most thrilling of mountain biking.

You’ll find wildflowers and wildlife, you can birdwatch, philosophise with the sheep and the cattle, fish for trout or salmon, or just enjoy being at peace in beautiful countryside.

It is a great destination for couples, solitary walkers or families alike. There is a village play park and plenty of nearby days out by the sea or on the lochs or in the mountains.

And when you don’t want to be energetic, you can find good food, good pubs, and good coffee. And you will receive a warm welcome too.
